My Airplane Youth (stream of consciousness writing 8)

They've been bursting through
The sound barrier
Over the house my father built
Longer than I've been alive
And they comfort me now
Especially on nights
Where sleep avoids me
As you often would
If I could not say
The right combination of words
To help you get through
Your own sleeplessness

There's one now
Shaking my walls
Down to their concrete bones
As it goes
To touch base
With the world
Again
